Related Information
Members of the Furley Page Family Law Team are specialists in advising on all areas of relationship breakdown and helping with the practical and personal issues that can arise from such an emotional event. We are the only Family Lawyers in East Kent acknowledged by the independent legal directory, the Legal 500, as being among the leaders in the South East of England.
The team is led by James Muir-Little. James grew up and went to school in Canterbury. He has been with Furley Page since 1993, the year he qualified, and has been a Partner since 1999. James Muir-Little is also a trained Mediator.
Anne Blenkinsop spent the latter part of her childhood in Kent and qualified as a solicitor in 1990. She joined Furley Page in 2004 and became a Partner in the firm in 2008. Anne is a trained Collaborative Lawyer.
Susi Gillespie grew up in Maidstone and joined Furley Page in 2006, the year that she qualified. Susi's main area of interest is advocacy and will usually be the person who attends Court with you, either with a barrister instructed on your behalf or to represent you herself. Susi Gillespie is based mainly at our Chatham office.
Naomi Hayward grew up and went to school in Ashford. She joined Furley Page in 2008 as a trainee solicitor and qualified into the Family Law team in 2010. Naomi works closely with all members of the team as well as running her own case load. Naomi is based at the Canterbury office but is also available for meetings at either the Chatham or Whitstable offices.
Although we all have our own families and busy lives both in and out of the office, we pride ourselves on our commitment to our clients and the level of service that we provide. In particular, we strive to be available to discuss our clients' concerns with them throughout the day. Our departmental direct line will usually be answered by one of our assistants, Dorothy Parker or Christine Bird, who both have years of experience in Family Law and understand the stress that separation and the complex legal processes sometimes involve. Dorothy and Christine are not fee earning staff but can often answer straightforward procedural queries and can always provide a sympathetic ear. Telephone 01227 763939 to make an appointment.
We all have individual specialisms in Family Law but we are first and foremost a team. As well as working very closely together, exchanging ideas and concerns about difficult cases on a daily basis, we keep excellent records of the essential facts and relevant issues on our clients’ files. We also try to ensure that the work on all of our files is done by an appropriately qualified member of the team at an appropriate hourly rate.
Unlike many other Family Law teams, all the solicitors in our team work full time. We understand the anxiety that an unanswered concern over your future or a misunderstanding as to your legal position can cause. Even when the solicitor who usually deals with your case is at Court or away from the office, if it is not possible for you to speak to someone who can answer your query immediately, we will always telephone you back as soon as possible.
When you telephone us for the first time we will try to ensure that you speak to James, Anne, Susi, Naomi or a trainee solicitor, or that one of them calls you back. We know that you may have some immediate detailed concerns that you wish to discuss with a qualified solicitor, rather than just having an appointment made for you by a receptionist. Any preliminary discussion by telephone with any member of the team would not be charged for.
If you do decide to come in and see one of us, following a discussion by telephone, we can usually offer an appointment at one of our offices within less than a week. If you are resident abroad but have assets in the United Kingdom or you live in the United Kingdom but not within easy access of Kent or London we are happy to deal with your case by email or telephone.
Intial interviews at a FIXED FEE of £100 inclusive of vat are available where divorce or separation proceedings have not started. See Fixed Fee Intial Interviews page for more information. Alternatively, contact James Muir-Little on 01227 763939.
