Discrimination
There is no minimum period of employment to receive protection against discrimination and protection is provided to employees, the self employed, independent contractors and workers.
There are however strict time limits in which to issue Tribunal proceedings for discrimination, so you should always seek legal advice as soon as possible if you know or suspect you are the victim of discrimination. Contact Andrew Masters or Patrick Glencross to find out how we can help you.
Equality Act 2010 and discrimination
Protection against discrimination, harassment and victimisation is contained within a complex legal framework under the Equality Act 2010.
The Equality Act is concerned with discrimination in respect of the specific protected characteristics which are:
- age
- disability
- gender reassignment
- marriage and civil partnership
- pregnancy and maternity
- race
- religion or belief
- sex
- sexual orientation
We have vast experience and unprecedented expertise in bringing claims of discrimination on behalf of individuals.
Choose Furley Page for advice on discrimination
We will advise you on the merits of your claim at an early stage to determine how best to proceed, whether that be by way of negotiations with your employer, or vigorously pursuing your claim to a hearing.
